The Keychron Q3 Max is a tenkeyless (80%) mechanical keyboard built with a CNC-machined 6063 aluminum chassis. It is equipped with Gateron Jupiter Brown tactile switches, which are pre-lubricated to provide consistent feedback. The keyboard's internal design incorporates a double-gasket mount, a feature intended to adjust the sound profile and typing feel. Durability is addressed with double-shot PBT keycaps in a KSA profile, which are resistant to surface wear from prolonged use.

This model features tri-mode connectivity, offering a wired USB-C connection, a 2.4 GHz wireless connection via an included receiver, and Bluetooth 5.1 for pairing with multiple devices. In wired and 2.4 GHz modes, the keyboard operates at a 1000 Hz polling rate for responsive input. It is fully programmable using QMK and VIA software, allowing for key remapping and macro creation that can be saved to 256 KB of onboard memory. Power is supplied by an internal rechargeable battery.
