The HP 3100 SI Switch Series are cost-effective, fully managed Layer 2 switches ideal for the access layer of medium and large enterprises. Convenient 8-, 16- and 24-10/100 ports models with Gigabit Ethernet uplinks provide reliable connectivity, easy installation with quiet, fanless models and enterprise class quality of service and security features. The HP 3100 SI Switch Series can be managed with the optional HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Software Platform for a single view of your entire network.
Managed Fast Ethernet Access Layer Switches
- The HP 3100 SI Switch Series are cost-effective Fast Ethernet fully managed Layer 2 switches ideal for the access layer of medium and large enterprises.
- Convenient 8-, 16- and 24-ports models with Gigabit Ethernet uplinks for flexibility.
- Fanless models are ideal for quiet deployment in office spaces and other acoustically sensitive locations.
- Link aggregation expands bandwidth and enhances connection reliability.
Quality of Service (QoS) and Security Control
- The HP 3100 SI Switch Series provides traffic prioritization with supported congestion actions including weighted round robin queuing and HQ+WRR.
- Broadcast control cuts down on unwanted network broadcast traffic.
- Support for MAC Authentication and IEEE 802.1X for improved security and authentication.
- Enhanced security features include port isolation, STP BPDU port protection and root guard. Radius/HWTACAS eases switch management security administration by using a password authentication server.
Single View of the Network
- The HP 3100 SI Switch Series can be seamlessly managed with the optional HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Software Platform to provide end-to-end network transparency with consistent network experience through comprehensive configuration, compliance and policy management.
- Manager and operator privilege levels enable read-only and read/write access on CLI and Web browser management interfaces.
Resiliency and high availability
- Separate data and control paths: increase security and performance
- Spanning Tree/MSTP, RSTP: provides redundant links while preventing network loops
- Port trunking: provides higher switch-to-switch throughput and link-level redundancy, with support for standards-based link aggregation (IEEE 802.3ad)
Layer 2 switching
- 8K MAC addresses: provide access to many Layer 2 devices
- VLAN support and tagging: support IEEE 802.1Q with 4,094 simultaneous VLAN IDs
- GARP VLAN Registration Protocol: allows automatic learning and dynamic assignment of VLANs
- Gigabit Ethernet port aggregation: allows grouping of ports to increase overall data throughput to a remote device
- IEEE 802.1ad QinQ: increases the scalability of an Ethernet network by providing a hierarchical structure; connects multiple LANs on a high-speed campus or metro network
Security
- IEEE 802.1X: industry-standard method of user authentication using an IEEE 802.1X supplicant on the client in conjunction with a RADIUS server
- MAC-based authentication: client is authenticated with the RADIUS server based on the client's MAC address
- Secure management access: securely encrypts all access methods (CLI, GUI, or MIB) through SSHv2, SSL, and/or SNMPv3
- Secure FTP: allows secure file transfer to and from the switch; protects against unwanted file downloads or unauthorized copying of a switch configuration file
- Guest VLAN: similar to IEEE 802.1X, it provides a browser-based environment to authenticated clients
