Gaming monitors

There are a huge variety of gaming monitors on the market. We’ve listed a few important features on gaming monitors that are good to know.

Inch size, resolution and design

For gaming use, a larger inch size does not automatically mean better, as the screen resolution, means a lot. The most popular combination in esports is usually 24” and Full HD (1920x1080) resolution, which is a great choice for FPS Gaming, for example. For 27-inch and larger displays, we recommend higher-resolution solutions, such as 4K displays, which have become significantly more common in recent years. Please note that higher resolution requires more from the graphics card.

You should also pay special attention to the ergonomics of the monitor – think about whether you need height adjustment, for example, or whether your desk space is limited, so you need a thinner screen.

Refresh Rate

The refresh rate of the display indicates how many frames the display shows per second. For gaming use, we definitely recommend a screen of at least 144hz to guarantee a smooth gaming experience - this is very important, especially in esports games. However, there are always options between 165hz, 240hz or even 360hz, that is often used by professionals.

Different graphics card manufacturers also have their own technology for matching the display and the refresh rate of the graphics card.

Response time and panel technology

Response time indicates how quickly the display responds to commands given to the computer. The lower the number, the better. There are three main panel technologies seen in gaming monitor: the TN panel type is the oldest and most popular, but today, newer IPS and VA panels are often seen on gaming monmitors as well. IPS displays have a higher response time than TN displays, but color reproduction and viewing angles are better. VA monitors combine the best of both panel technologies.
