The D-LINK G536/E is a 5G NR Wi-Fi 7 router that supports cellular and wireless connectivity. It operates on the IEEE 802.11be protocol across two frequency bands. The integrated 5G NR modem, accessed via a SIM card slot, provides mobile internet for primary use or as a failover. The device uses MU-MIMO and beamforming to maintain signal stability, with traffic managed across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to optimise distribution. The router also supports automatic failover between 5G and Ethernet connections.

The device includes a 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, supporting transfer rates up to 2,500 Mbit/s, and a dedicated Ethernet WAN port for fixed-line connections. The internal antenna array consists of eight LTE/5G NR antennas and five Wi-Fi antennas. Users manage settings, such as guest access and parental controls, via a web-based interface. Firmware updates are available to ensure ongoing compatibility.
