The TP-Link Omada ES205G is a 5-port Gigabit "Easy Managed" Layer 2 switch designed for compact wired networks. It features five Gigabit RJ45 ports for connecting local hardware, such as computers, access points, or network video recorders. With a switching capacity of 10 Gbit/s, the unit handles simultaneous data transfers across all connections, while a 7.4 Mpps forwarding rate helps prevent bottlenecks during periods of heavy load. As this is a non-PoE model, connected equipment must rely on independent power supplies.

The metal chassis supports both desktop placement and wall mounting. Its fanless design ensures silent operation, making it suitable for noise-sensitive environments like open-plan offices. Administrators can configure the system via a standard web interface or the Omada cloud management platform. Network traffic is prioritised using built-in Quality of Service (QoS), link aggregation, and broadcast storm control. Device isolation and security are managed through various virtual LAN options, including MTU, port-based, and tagged configurations.
