Its primary role is twofold: to protect the exposed surface components of the CPU substrate and to ensure consistent, optimal pressure distribution when mounting a CPU cooler. The frame replaces the standard CPU cooler mounting mechanism on the motherboard. This modification aims to enhance thermal transfer efficiency between the CPU integrated heat spreader (IHS) and the cold plate of the cooling solution.

Construction utilizes anodized aluminium finished in black, providing structural rigidity and resistance to corrosion. The frame integrates a silicone foam component designed to seal the periphery of the CPU package, preventing liquid metal or excess thermal paste from reaching sensitive motherboard components near the IHS. Physical dimensions measure 55 mm in width, 7 mm in height, and 6 mm in depth. The package includes the necessary mounting hardware, screws, thermal grease, and an insulator sheet for installation.
