The TP-Link AV1000 Gigabit Powerline AC1200 Wi-Fi Kit (TL-WPA7617) extends network coverage by using existing electrical wiring to transmit data. The system uses the HomePlug AV2 standard to create a wired backbone throughout a building. It provides dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). Under the IEEE 802.11ac standard, the kit supports a theoretical maximum wireless speed of 1200 Mbps, with 300 Mbps allocated to the 2.4 GHz band and 867 Mbps to the 5 GHz band. The powerline connection is rated for up to 1000 Mbps.

Each unit includes a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired connections to devices such as games consoles or smart TVs. The design uses internal antennas to maintain a compact profile.
