The Sony LinkBuds S are lightweight true wireless earbuds, with each unit weighing 4.8 grams for a secure and unobtrusive fit. Audio is produced by 5 mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets, which cover a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40,000 Hz. This wide range, combined with support for the LDAC codec, allows for playback of high-resolution audio files from compatible sources. The earbuds employ a closed acoustic system and feature active noise cancellation to reduce ambient environmental sounds for more focused listening.

For communication, the LinkBuds S integrate four omnidirectional microphones with noise-canceling technology to improve voice clarity during calls. The internal battery offers up to 6 hours of playback, and the charging case extends this to a total of 20 hours. The case supports fast charging via its USB-C port, taking two hours for a full recharge. An IPX4 rating provides resistance against water splashes and sweat, suitable for daily commutes or light exercise. All functions, including call management and media playback, are handled through integrated touch controls and can be further configured using the companion mobile application.
