The TP-Link RE605X AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 range extender expands wireless coverage by receiving and re-transmitting signals from an existing router. Using the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard, it offers higher efficiency and capacity than previous generations. It is a dual-band system, supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies simultaneously, and reaches a maximum theoretical data transfer rate of 1201 Mbit/s. By covering signal dead zones, the extender provides a more consistent connection in parts of a building with poor reception. It is backward compatible with older standards, including 802.11a, b, g, n, and ac.

Two adjustable external antennas are mounted on the housing to direct signals toward connected devices. A single Gigabit Ethernet port provides a wired link for hardware such as smart TVs or gaming consoles at speeds up to 1000 Mbit/s. Setup is straightforward via the WPS button, which allows for quick pairing with compatible routers. LED indicators provide real-time status updates on signal strength and connectivity. For management, the extender uses a web-based interface and is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. Integrated MU-MIMO technology allows the extender to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously to maintain throughput. The device consumes approximately 10 W during typical operation.
