The STARTECH SM2NGFFMBU33 is an external enclosure designed to house a single M.2 SATA SSD. It converts an internal M.2 drive into a portable storage solution that connects to a host computer via a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface. This device is compatible with SATA-based M.2 SSDs in the 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors. It utilizes the ASMedia ASM1153E chipset to support data transfer rates of up to 6 Gbit/s.

Constructed from aluminum, the enclosure provides passive cooling to help maintain stable operating temperatures for the installed drive. It is powered directly through the USB bus, removing the need for an external power adapter during use. The unit features a Micro-USB B female connector and includes the necessary USB cable for connection. This enclosure also supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) to improve file transfer performance on compatible operating systems.

The hardware setup is plug-and-play and requires no additional drivers for installation on Windows, macOS, or Linux systems.
