This unmanaged switch requires no configuration, providing a plug-and-play method to expand a wired local network. The TP-Link TL-SG105 5-port Gigabit desktop switch connects to a router or existing network infrastructure to provide five additional Gigabit Ethernet ports. These ports operate at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps and use autonegotiation to match the maximum speed of the connected computer, storage drive, or printer. As a Layer 2 device, it learns up to 2048 MAC addresses to forward frames to the correct destination without user management. Auto-MDI/MDIX functionality removes the need for crossover cables, simplifying the initial installation.
The 5-port model features a steel chassis designed for use in office environments. Its fanless design ensures silent performance, making it suitable for quiet workspaces or home offices. Measuring 100 x 98 x 25 mm, the unit fits into small enclosures or on crowded desks. If surface space is limited, the switch can be wall-mounted to keep cabling organised. Integrated LEDs display power and link activity for visual monitoring and troubleshooting. Drawing a maximum of 2.3 W under full load, the system uses a standard DC power input.
Key Features:- 10 Gbit/s switching capacity ensures non-blocking data routing across all connected devices simultaneously.
- 16 KB jumbo frame support improves the efficiency of large file transfers across the local network.
- 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS) enables traffic prioritisation to maintain stable connections for latency-sensitive applications.
- IGMP snooping optimises multicast traffic delivery to prevent network congestion during video streaming or broadcasting.
- 7.4 Mpps forwarding rate maintains steady overall throughput for network packets.
- Cat3, Cat4, Cat5, and Cat5e compatibility allows for deployment using existing cabling infrastructure.
