The Delock 89178 is a PCI Express x1 expansion card that adds four RS-232 (DB9) serial ports to a computer. It connects via a single PCIe x1 lane, providing sufficient bandwidth for serial data transfer. The four DB9 connectors are mounted on the card’s bracket. The card uses the ASIX MCS9904 controller to manage serial traffic across all ports, allowing the computer to connect to equipment such as barcode scanners, lab instruments, and CNC machines.
The card is compatible with macOS, Linux, and Windows. Featuring a low-profile design, it fits into a variety of computer cases. Point-to-point wiring ensures stable RS-232 signal transmission. The bracket keeps the card securely seated in the expansion slot. This unit is intended for systems that lack sufficient onboard serial ports.
Key Features:- 230.4 Kbit/s maximum transfer rate—supports standard high-speed serial communication for industrial peripherals.
- Drivers included—ensures the ASIX chipset is correctly configured by the operating system.
- Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7, and Server 2003 support—provides compatibility for both legacy and current enterprise software.
- Linux kernel 2.6 or higher—suitable for integration into embedded systems and server-side distributions.
- PCIe 1.1 interface—utilises a dedicated hardware bus to maintain stable throughput for connected devices.
