The ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB994IPO-3SB is a mobile rack backplane designed to occupy a single 5.25-inch drive bay. This hardware allows for the integration of two 2.5-inch storage drives alongside an additional media bay within the same physical footprint. It is constructed from full metal and aluminum to ensure structural integrity and heat management in industrial or server environments. The design facilitates high-density storage configurations in systems where internal space is constrained. This enclosure is suitable for applications such as industrial PCs and portable workstations that require accessible storage.

Data connectivity is managed through a backplane supporting transfer rates of up to 6Gbps for SATA 3.0 and 24Gbps for SAS 4.0 interfaces. A 40mm fan is positioned at the rear to provide active cooling across the drive surfaces during operation. Integrated LED indicators provide a visual reference for power status and active disk access through color-coded lighting. An on/off power switch is included to allow manual control over the electrical supply to the internal components.
